Detailed Answer – What are reclaimed bricks?
Reclaimed bricks are bricks which have been recycled and rescued from buildings which have been demolished. Due to them being reclaimed from demolitions most reclaimed bricks have a worn aesthetic. Typically the edges will be chipped, marked and irregular. The bricks may also exhibit remnants of character from the previous building like paint, plaster and mortar. Cleaned off and re-used reclaimed bricks have a unique and individual appearance.
Reclaimed bricks can be divided into two sub categories, Machine made and Handmade.
Machine made Reclaimed bricks
Machinemade bricks are generally harder, heavier and more substantial than handmade bricks. Machine made reclaimed bricks usually have a flat surfaceand are most commonly also known as wire cuts.
Handmade Reclaimed bricks
Handmade bricks are usually more irregular and unique in appearance, handmade reclaimed bricks often exhibit the most amount of aging due to the creased and unique surface textures.
